The United Democratic Fund, India (UDF) and the Left Democratic Fund (Kerala) are the two major political alliances of Kerala. The state has a parliamentary system of representative democracy according to the Indian Constitution for its governance and the universal suffrage is granted to state residents. 2. Executive: The constitutional head of the state is the Governor of Kerala and is appointed by the President of India. The Chief Minister of the state headed the executive authority.
